Granger Whitelaw Biography

Granger Whitelaw is a multi-faceted professional with core strengths of Sales, Marketing, Mergers & Acquisitions & Corporate Development with a strong Finance and Operations background. A creative entrepreneur, he holds four patents from the United States government, all of them focused around the sport of rocket-powered racing that he helped create in 2001.
A respected venture capitalist and entrepreneur, Granger Whitelaw has immersed himself in a number of professional, academic, and personal pursuits. Mr. Whitelaw discovered his passion for art while studying at the University of Minnesota. He further fueled his interest after moving to New York City, where he lived in the SoHo district.
One of Granger Whitelaw’s very first ventures included Angers – Whitelaw & Co., a fine art firm based in Manhattan. He followed this up with the founding of his IndyCar racing sponsorship and marketing company, called Whitelaw Racing, Inc. This company provided financial support and finding advertising and sponsorship opportunities for some of IndyCar’s most talented racers, such as Eddie Cheever, Buddy Lazier and Robby Unser. Buddy Lazier’s Indy 500 victory is a source of great pride. Friends since childhood, Buddy suffered what would ordinarily have been a career ending injury, a massive backwards impact at Phoenix International Raceway that shattered his lower back. With a specially formed seat, Buddy was back in a race car weeks later for the Indy 500. With injuries that made even getting out of bed excruciatingly painful, few could have expected Buddy to even finish the race, but he didn’t just finish, he won in one of the most unlikely and emotional Indy 500 victories in years.
Granger Whitelaw‘s business success led him to expand and diversify his Venture Capital projects as a manager at firms such as EOCNET.com, CoreCommerce, and BlueCar Partners. Teaming up with Peter Diamandis, the Rocket Racing League was his next venture. The Rocket Racing League, combined the excitement of Formula One and Indycar, with awe inspiring rockets! Racing on a virtual circuit, highly trained and skilled pilots would race head to head on a circuit displayed on their heads-up display.
Granger Whitelaw demonstrates the same high energy in his private life as he does in his many of his business ventures. He enjoys scuba diving, sailing, water skiing, boating, flying, golfing, hunting, and other forms of recreation. In addition, Mr. Whitelaw likes reading books, including Atlas Shrugged. Known as Rambler to his friends, Granger Whitelaw has lived in the Midwest, the West, the East, and the coastal South. He fondly refers to New York City as his hometown, which he finds vibrant and exciting. He currently spends much of his time at his home in Palm Beach, Florida, with his family, which includes his wife Laura and their four children. Mr. Whitelaw and his family attend services at Christ Fellowship.
